Develop and start mass production of narrow aspheric glass lens "FLGPJ series" with clamp area

ALPS has developed the FLGPJ series of aspheric glass lenses for small, high-density fiber-optic transceivers, and will begin mass production in July.

Recently, due to the growing popularity of mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets, and the improvement of broadband communication networks using fiber optics and so on, SNS, games, video transmission and other large-capacity data sending and receiving services have emerged. The amount of data communication on the Internet is also increasing year by year. In the future, with the gradual introduction of "IoT (Internet of Things)" by various industries, the amount of data communication will further increase.

Data centers that bear the heavy burden of data storage and infrastructure companies that expand communication networks are making great efforts to promote the miniaturization of optical communication system equipment mainly composed of optical fiber transceivers. They are striving to meet the requirements of large-capacity communication network by setting multiple devices in a limited space. Therefore, the need for equipment must be miniaturized and high-density. Similarly, the need for the miniaturization of the electronic parts carried on the equipment is also increasing.

To date, ALPS has mass-produced square aspheric glass lenses with a width and height of 1mm for fiber-optic transceivers. This time, ALPS has successfully developed a narrow aspheric glass lens with clamping area type "FLGPJ series".

The width of the product is only 0.6mm, which realizes the narrowness. Through the upper loading area of the card, the operation of the installer during assembly and adjustment is improved, which makes a contribution to high density mounting. In addition, the product is not only small in size, but also achieves effective NA (Numerical Aperture) of 0.5.Moreover, this product lens adopts lead-free glass, in line with ROHS6 and REACH two major standards.
